For 2023 filing (2022 taxes): April 18th, 2023
- Monday, January 23. IRS begins 2023 tax season. Individual tax returns start being accepted and processing begins.
- Tuesday, April 18. Due date for filing 2022 tax returns or requesting extension of time to file.
- Tuesday, April 18. Due date for paying 2022 tax owed to avoid owing interest and penalties.
- Monday, October 16. Due date to file for those requesting an extension on their 2022 tax returns.

--Note from IRS website "Beginning Tax Year 2018, you will no longer use Form 1040A or Form 1040EZ, but instead will use the redesigned Form 1040. Many people will only need to file Form 1040 and no schedules."

Taxpayers who may have used these forms in the past will need to use the IA 1040 or IA 1120 beginning with 2013.”

AARP Foundation Tax-Aide offers free, individualized tax preparation for low-to moderate-income taxpayers - especially those 60 and older.
United Way’s VITA program also provides tax assistance.

What TAX materials does the Library carry?
The Barlow Library does NOT carry loose forms or booklets.
Please call ahead (641-648-2872) to make sure we have what you need.
We will have State and Federal 1040 forms available, but you will need to use our Internet stations to print any additional documents from the IRS and State of Iowa tax sites (printing and copying is 15 cents per page)
