Library of Things
The Library of Things is a collection of nontraditional items you can borrow or use at the Barlow Memorial Library. It’s free, all you need is a library card!
These items are available for you to checkout with your library card:
Bicycles
The Barlow Library has 5 bicycles for adults and children, a trailer bike, a strider bike, a fat tire bicycle and a burley trailer!
Bikes and trailers are available for same day checkout, along with locks and helmet. Click here to learn more. Disc Golf
The library has 4 sets of disc golf discs!
Each set comes in a bag with 3 different weighted discs that can be checked out for 2 days. A disc golf course is located at Foster Park. Launchpad Tablets
The library has 4 different Launchpad Tablets that come pre-loaded with learning apps and games—no internet needed!
The different options are: ° STEAM-Ages 3+ ° English Language Arts: Ages 3+ ° Lively Letters!-English Language Arts: Ages 5+ ° STEAM-Ages 5-7 (K-2nd Grade) ° English Language Arts-Ages 5-7(K-2nd Grade) ° English Language Arts-Ages 8+ ° STEAM Build & Create SuperPack-Ages 8-10 (3rd-5th Grade) Tablets can be checked out for 1 week. The library has over 50 puzzles available for you to take home and put together!
Smaller 100 piece puzzles all the way up to 1500 piece puzzles and all sizes in between. Puzzles can be checked out for 30 days! Click here for a list of puzzles! Snowshoes
The library has 25 pairs of adult and child sized snowshoes available to check out!
Snowshoe poles are also available upon request. Snowshoes may be checked out for a two-day period, up to three pairs per card, one renewal allowed. Fines are $.50/day when items are overdue. Click here to learn more. |
Board Games
Check out these fun board games available for you to take home to play!

Discovery Bags offer engaging, hands-on learning experiences for patrons of all ages, centered around a specific theme.

The library has several pairs of ice skates ranging in size from child's 9-men's 16.
Ice skates may be checked out for a two-day period, up to three pairs per card, one renewal allowed. Fines are $.50/day when items are overdue. Click here to learn more. Pickleball
The library has 2 sets of pickleball equipment!
Each set comes in a carrying case with 4 balls and 2 paddles that can be checked out for 2 days. Pickleball courts are located at Assembly Park! Shuffleboard
The library has 1 set of shuffleboard equipment!
The set comes with 8 disks and 4 cues that can be checked out for 2 days. A shuffleboard court is located at Assembly Park. Wonderbook Read-Alongs
Wonderbooks are hardcover books (picture books, early readers, and even chapter books) with an audio book player embedded into their front cover. Wonderbooks will read the entire text of the book aloud (with or without headphones) and kids can follow along with the written text. The Wonderbooks player also comes pre-loaded with comprehension questions to check your young reader’s understanding of the story.

These items are available for in library use only:
3D Printer
The library received a grant from the Schiller Fund, an endowment with the Hardin County Endowment Foundation, to purchase a brand new 3D printer! We own a Bambu Lab X1- Carbon. This new printer allows for bigger items to be printed
You can create your own image (STL or 3MF file) using tinkercad.com or other coding software and bring the design in to be printed. You can also visit thingiverse.com or makerworld.com to find designs already created for us to print. Cost of items are determined by amount of filament used. AWE Station
The library currently has 2 AWE stations available to use during library hours!
The AWE station is an all in one learning station that focuses on STREAM (Science – Technology – Reading – Engineering – Arts – Mathematics) learning content. It provides a safe learning environment, by not being connected to the internet, for children of all ages! |

The library purchased a phone and tablet charging station with Schiller Funds!
This charging stand features eight industrial-grade braided charging cables (4 Apple lightning for iPhone 5 and newer, and 4 Type-C for Android devices.) Located in the Reading Room area of the library. Please do not leave your device unattended. Puzzle Table
There is always a puzzle being worked on in the library! Anyone is welcome to have a seat and work on it.
It's always fun to come back a few days later to check the progress! Any of the puzzles not being used on the table can be checked out. Once a puzzle has been started, please do not take it apart until it has been finished. |
This PLAY table offers interactive multi-player games and educational content for all ages! Includes: number, word, paint, and quiz touch, air hockey, balloon pop, puzzles and more.
