Library of Things
The Library of Things is a collection of nontraditional items you can borrow or use at the Barlow Memorial Library. It’s free, all you need is a library card!
These items are available for you to checkout with your library card:
BicyclesThe Barlow Library has 5 bicycles for adults and children, a trailer bike, a strider bike, a fat tire bicycle and a burley trailer!
Bikes and trailers are available for same day checkout, along with locks and helmet. Click here to learn more. Disc GolfThe library has 4 sets of disc golf discs!
Each set comes in a bag with 3 different weighted discs that can be checked out for 2 days. A disc golf course is located at Foster Park. Launchpad TabletsThe library has 4 different Launchpad Tablets that come pre-loaded with learning apps and games—no internet needed!
The different options are: ° STEAM-Ages 3+ ° English Language Arts: Ages 3+ ° STEAM-Ages 5-7 (K-2nd Grade) ° English Language Arts-Ages 5-7(K-2nd Grade) Tablets can be checked out for 1 week. Only 1 per family at a time. Puzzles
The library has over 50 puzzles available for you to take home and put together!
Smaller 100 piece puzzles all the way up to 1500 piece puzzles and all sizes in between. Puzzles can be checked out for 30 days! SnowshoesThe library has 25 pairs of adult and child sized snowshoes available to check out!
Snowshoe poles are also available upon request. Snowshoes may be checked out for a two-day period, up to three pairs per card, one renewal allowed. Fines are $.50/day when items are overdue. Click here to learn more. |
Board Games
Check out these fun board games available for you to take home to play!
Games for all ages, including: ° Spot It Jr.- Ages 4+ ° Connect 4- Ages 6+ ° Hedbanz- Ages 8+ ° Codenames-Ages 14+ ° Exploding Kittens-Ages 7+ ° Artsy Fartsy-Ages 10+ ° Pass the Pandas-Ages 6+ ° And Many More!! All board games can be checked out for 1 week. Ice SkatesThe library has several pairs of ice skates ranging in size from child's 9-men's 16.
Ice skates may be checked out for a two-day period, up to three pairs per card, one renewal allowed. Fines are $.50/day when items are overdue. Click here to learn more. PickleballThe library has 2 sets of pickleball equipment!
Each set comes in a carrying case with 4 balls and 2 paddles that can be checked out for 2 days. Pickleball courts will be located at Assembly Park coming Summer 2022. ShuffleboardThe library has 1 set of shuffleboard equipment!
The set comes with 8 disks and 4 cues that can be checked out for 2 days. A shuffleboard court is located at Assembly Park. Wonderbook Read-AlongsWonderbooks are hardcover books (picture books, early readers, and even chapter books) with an audio book player embedded into their front cover. Wonderbooks will read the entire text of the book aloud (with or without headphones) and kids can follow along with the written text. The Wonderbooks player also comes pre-loaded with comprehension questions to check your young reader’s understanding of the story.

These items are available for in library use only:
3D PrinterThe library owns a Makebot Mini 3D printer that patrons can have images printed on!
You can create your own image (STL file) using tinkercad.com or other coding software and bring the design in to be printed. You can also visit thingiverse.com to find designs already created for us to print. Cost of items are determined by printing time. One hour = $1.00, up to six hours. AWE StationThe library currently has 2 AWE stations available to use during library hours!
The AWE station is an all in one learning station that focuses on STREAM (Science – Technology – Reading – Engineering – Arts – Mathematics) learning content. It provides a safe learning environment, by not being connected to the internet, for children of all ages! |
